Raccoons and Skunks?

Yeah, we don't have those in England.

You think some of the English cast would've pointed that out to the crew at some point.

reply

lol maybe they did but no one believed them. After all Walt Disney himself was convinced he'd seen a gopher in Hampshire, England, hence the gopher sequence in Winnie the Pooh.

reply

Yeah. I imagine the raccoon bits were filmed by just a few staff and only seen by the (American?) editing team until the film was nearly finished. When someone pointed out the mistake they probably considered it was too late to bother changing. Shame!

reply

Just have to take it as artistic license and enjoy the film for what it is :)
I guess a badger doing the same things wouldn't look nearly so cute/comical....

reply

We'd be glad to import them from the States for you, perhaps in exchange for the red squirrel and the polecat?

reply

We dont have many red squirrels since your gray ones came over and killed most of them >:(

And by polecat I'm guessing you mean ferrets/weasels?

reply

Are polecats the same as ferrets and weasels? Truth be told, I just Googled "British wildlife" and tried to find a few that were roughly equivalent to raccoons and skunks, though the ones I came up with seem a lot more benign.

reply

Both were in the original animation (and they threw me a bit there as well) - so they got propagated to the live action.

I have to say though, I found the real raccoons and skunks in this version more jarring than the cartoon version.
(And I yet have to see a vat of dark molasses in this country.)

reply

no, there weren't racoons and skunks in the original version. see the movie again!
