I noticed that it says DEV IL and not DE VIL. Any thoughts?

Firstly, I know that this question is over three years ago, but who knows, maybe it still needs answering. ;)

British number plates used to use the three letters, a space, one to three numbers, then a final letter to represent the year the car was registered. Later, they reversed it to be one letter to represent the year that the car was registered, then one to three numbers, a space, then three letters. Today, it's two letters, two numbers to represent the half-year that the car was registered, a space, then three letters. So, DEV 1L fits with the first type of UK number plate that I mentioned above.
