Did anyone actually watch this show on CBS when it first aired?

..

reply

I did not, nor do I even recall it existing. I ran across the DVD at the library the other day and checked it out and watched it.

It seems like I would at least remember seeing ads for it but nope.

Its only interesting because it's the exact same plot and dialogue.

The plot was is exactly as the one of the most famous films ever.

1. The plot
2. The script
3. the idea

IT THE SAME PLOT!!

Having just watched it, I can tell you that while there are some similarities, it's not the same.

Obviously the fact that the ship sinks will be in both films, and it's true that there is a lower-class guy [Jamie] who falls in love and has a romance with a girl on the ship, but that's really about where the similarities end. Even that plot line is not that similar, because the girl he falls in love with is not a rich snobbish girl but a church girl who is going to America to be part of a religious movement, and furthermore there's a very weird plot line where she gets raped by a guy who is associated with Jamie and there's a lot of drama surrounding that.

You also have a plot about another woman who runs into an old lover on the ship and then decides to divorce her husband in order to run off with him and there's yet another plot line about an alleged baby-murdering woman who takes a job as a nanny and ultimately tries essentially to steal a baby.

The two films really are quite different.

In this version the ship turns upside down before it sinks and the people have to find their way tot the top before a bomb on board goes off!

You're thinking of the TV version of Poseidon Adventure starring Adam Baldwin and Rutger Hauer.

It's the same plot as the 97 version.

1. Irish poker game ...
2. Poor 3rd class passenger chasing the 1st class woman
3. The dancing from the deck of the 3rd class passengers
4. Romance between the 1st and 3rd class passegener

..

This was seen by 30 million people or more in 1996 ...
