I Absolutely Love This Movie !!! I wish There were A Website dedicated To It.
I thought The Actors did Superbly. I could watch This Movie Again & Again. And It's my sons Favorite version of The Tragedy.

This is one of the most wonderful movies I have ever seen. Normally I never cry when I watch sad movies, but with this one it was different! The different relationships and bonds between the characters was touching and very facinating to watch, and I agree: the actors really did superbly!

i hope your kidding. i just saw it on WE and it was really really horrible. Tim Curry was the best part!
Its hip to be Square!
The 1997 winner of 11 academy awards and box office champ to date is FAR better. This one's better? are you kidding me??? I just saw it on WE aswell and didn't really care for it either.
"You jump, I jump Right?" - Kate Winslet "TITANIC" (1997)

and the 1997 version showed it a lot better. don't get so defensive. I liked both versions, I’m not trying to be a troll. I simply liked the other better. And it wouldn't have made for good dialogue if Kate was shivering non stop in the parts where Kate is looking for jack, would it? She does turn pale, her breathing quickens and she shrieks when she feels it. If you want to talk about flaws, look at some of the sets in the TV version... very inaccurate (some not all). And a person seated next to me laughed at some of the effects - I just cringed. Like I said, I like them both and am fascinated by the disaster in general, but "Titanic" 1997 is a far more "splendid" movie.

My I possibly add that Kate did in fact get phemonia or some type of disease shooting titanic (1997) because her reactions were real. They pumped in water from the atlanic. and they were shooting in canada
just thought you should know that before accusations

Tartlet?!, Tartlet?!, Tartlet?!

Well, I think this is a bit too sugary and soap opera-like at times, but I did like it. It was good, but James Cameron's Titanic is much better!
Has the fact that you're completely psycho managed to escape your attention?
THe best Titanic movie by far is A Night to Remember. This version along with the Titanic movie made with Barbara Stanwyke and the Dicaprio versions are more fiction then fact. But they are all entertaining. THe DiCaprio/Winslet version is my least favorite though. Winslet, a actress I like, character was so annoying that by the end I wish she went down with the ship. Oh and winning Oscars is not really indicative of a great movie. Oscar campaigning has a lot to do with winning. History has shown that some dogs have won best pictures.
shareok titanic(1996) NOT one of tim curry and chathrene zeta jone's best movies, i saw it yesterday on WE and i can say that the 1997 virsion grounds this one into the dust, the 1997 one is just more moving and more powerfull then this one in this one it focuses on so many differant parts of the story and flashe to so many differant people that it's hard to keep track of in the 1997 virsion it really on centers around rose and jack and you see their relationship biuld and thats why the end when jack dies is so emotional, and sad. i didn't feel that this movie was that well made, and the acting wasn't very good.
ok i have a new rule no more of these
JUMPY SPAZZY CHICKS---matt grind
I also saw it on We yesterday and 'splendid' is the last word I would use to describe it. The acting was terrible; don't get me started on that poncey theif dude of indeterminate United Kingdom accent. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Peter Gallagher were the only ones who didn't suck.
When I watch movies, I have no choice but to bring my knowledge and education with me. This movie was riddled with more historical inaccuracies than all the rivets fastened to the hull of the Titanic. The Allison's nanny was not a baby killer; her name was just similar to someone else's. Anyone who knows anything about the Titanic would know it was the R.M.S. (Royal Mail Steamer), not the S.S. And Captain Smith? For lack of a more elegant word, history has agreed that he was a pussy, negligent at the very least. His diagnosis of the ship is amazing...it's almost as though he could sense the damage to the ENTIRE ship as he walked in a hallway from his cabin to the bridge. And the diagnosis he makes? That was made by Thomas Andrews, brilliantly portrayed in the 1997 film by Victor Garber, who is left entirely out of the film. That's not even all the inaccuracies, those are just the ones I find the most egregious.
It's not worth your time. Go see the 1997 one.
I think this movie is the best Titanic movie that I have ever seen!! Only downfall was that it lacked a Thomas Andrews!! I thought it was excellent!!
If Only James Cameron could have had a stories like the ones featured in this movie rather than the pathetic unbeleiveable one story of jack and bloody Rose.
This movie had better actors too such as george C Scott (A Legend!!!) Peter Gallagher and Catherine Zeta Jones!!! What more could you want?!!!
Are you kidding me? The best Titanic film was A Night to Remember!??? That film was terrible.
Ron The Great!
It's not up to you to save me Jack. -Rose
Oh yes, A Night to Remember is STILL the Great-granddaddy of all TITANIC movies. I watched it again tonight and even after 48 years it can still pack a pretty emotional punch!
shareIt is not only the best Titanic movie it is a great movie period. I can't see how anyone can compare it to that Cameron movie. They are 2 different types of movies. The Stanwyke, Webb version was even better because the back story was more interestng and one is not prepared for the twist in the end. But to compare those Titanic movies with a Night to Remember makes no sense considereding one of them was fact and one ones was fiction. The only things that are the same is that they are on a ship named the Titanic and it is going to run into a iceberg and sink. Those versions could of been set on a river boat in the Mississippi because their story has nothing to really do with the Titanic at all.
shareur an idiot marbleannn none of these storylines have anything to do wit the movie the rape thing hahahaha, so bad this movie is sooooo bad it made me laugh, and how can any1 say that the effects were good this movie has worse effects then any movie in the last probably 35 years.. u no wat ill give it 30 years, in 30 years...
shareWhat in the heck are you talking about? I always have trouble understanding gibberish.
sharethe rape scene u said that the jack n rose story line has nothing to do wit the hsip, well it does... and the whole thing with the rape scene wit tim curry is hidiculous. It was so poorly made and with such a good cast
shareI've been obsessed with Titanic since I was 5 years old (Im 16 now) and my parents took me to a museam about it so whenever a new Titanic film pops up, or infact anything about Titanic pops up I have to see it. I think all the Titanic films have been good, although I've only seen raise the Titanic once and I was quite younge at the time but I dont like the idea of raising the Titanic anyway plus its completely impossible, but I think I do prefere the story line in A night to remember and Titanic (1996) as it focusses more on the real life people who were on the ship instead of a completely unbelieveable storyline of a romance between a first class passenger and a steerage passenger who probably wouldnt of had a conversation with each other in real life.
Titanic (1997) has deffinately got the best sinking scenes though. The special effects are brilliant. Feel free to correct me if I have got some information wrong.
This isn't the life I wanted, this isn't the life I chose. But it's the one that I've been given anyway...
I saw this movie a while back. Then, I found out that Harley Jane Kozak (Bess Allsion) is my "aunt." I liked this movie better than 1997's version. This was more about the Titanic than the love story.
shareMuch better than Cameron's effort which really does stink. You are much better off watching A Night To Remember though. Even though a few facts have come to light after Lord's story, it is still far better than modern warm overs such as this.
If you are a Titanic completest then buy this, it is usually sold at Tesco for a pound!
“You’re not the tooth faerie are you?”
“No, she’s real. Don’t be a plank!”
I feel that the class distinctions are better in this one, plus the romance in the Kate and Leo one felt too modern to me, and the K&L one incorrectly depicted the ship as only having the barriers between classes up only during the sinking. The only reason why I'm willing to forgive the video game "Titanic: Adventure out of Time" for a similar oversight is because you get to go over almost the entire ship in that game (fun game, too). To asam 3122, you know Harley Jane Kozak? Cool. She's one of the best non big-name actors in this.

Wow the American's have a very poor standard of 'liking something' in true drama.
If you want to see a brilliant take on the Titanic sinking. Watch the recent 2012 Titanic version by ITV. It's a 4 part mini series and is superb!
