Are people lying or just crazy? This movie sucked!

The dialog was embarrassing. I kept feeling my face get hot.
The acting was pathetic for the most part. What Tim, George & Catherine were thinking by taking this job? Who knows?

The CGI made Roger Corman's Carnasor look good.

At one point water is sweeping past a funnel on the deck and you can see the funnel move. Water comes flowing down the stairs before it fills up the deck below it, because, I don't know, maybe the director thought this was the Poseidon adventure the ship was actually upside down.

Peter Gallagher always sucks and this is no different.

Roger Rees acts, talks and walks like he just got back from having a colonoscopy.

And people are raving about this movie? Who paid you?

From my experience, it's mostly the poseurs who want to look all "special" and "rebellious" and "unconventional" by praising this movie-of-the-week crap over the more notable examples like the 1997 film or A Night to Remember. Hell, even the 1943 Nazi version was a better film both historically and dramatically.
