Just saw last episode for the first time, weird ending

I just saw the last episode for the first time and it had the weirdest ending ever!. It wasn't really a definite ending. I can't believe you had to wait ten years for another episode. Was the episode done to lead on to a possible third series? or did they do it just incase it came back for a one off like it is doing know?. Thank god I only have to wait a few weeks for the one off , rather than 10 years if I saw it when it first aired

I imagine that it was left open like that for a third series.

I think the cast was getting to be well known by that time and had offers coming in.

Did you stay tuned in long enough to see the little bit after the credits?

reply

What happened after the credits, i switched off before then... oh no did i miss something?

Yeah, me too. I watched in on and off in 1996 but never got into it, probably because I was younger and couldn't relate. I'm glad I don't have to wait ten years either, that would have been unbearable!

After the credits you see an advert circled in a paper.

The advert was about renting a room in the house.

The reader was about to dial the number in the add.

You never saw her face, only her hand.

...when you think about it all the characters had run their course...

Miles married off to start a new life

Egg and Milly split up

Anna left heartbroken and in possible career trouble

Ferdy happily gay

Jo and Keira getting back together

Rachel smacked in the mouth

At the time was devastated there was no 3rd series but looking back it was absolutely right

It was a very unusual ending with everything up in the air.

What particulary astounded me was the return of Warren right at the end, I get the feeling that his return was due to further storylines materialising, otherwise his return is pointless.

please...it would be a flogging a slowly dying horse

stick to the wrestling

I'm a little confused now. As I remembered from '96 it all ended in a big mess. I remember Egg finding out about Milly, Warren coming back, Lenny in quilt, all at a party (Miles' wedding?) Now that I've seen the end, it ends in Miles asking Anna if she loves him. What did I miss?

Maybe I'll have to buy the DVD's to see the first series, I started watching when Warren left. But I don't know if the DVD's are available here in the Netherlands, does anyone know?

reply

Miles asked Anna if she loved him in the 2nd last episode, she declined to answer.

reply

Sounds like you saw the second last episode but missed the last one. The second last episode is after Miles's stag night where he tells Anna he loves her and then she walks out the room.

The last epiosde is the day after that, when they are all hungover. Milly has a row with O'Donnell in the office and Egg is starting to wonder whats going on, Milly and Anna make up after Milly ends it with O'Donnell and decides to stick with Egg. Miles is having doubts about the wedding. Anna is tormented, but refuses to tell Miles she loves him as she wants it to be his decision. Oh and Ferdy asks Lenny to the Wedding!

Then the next day is the wedding where it all kicks off, Rachel hints to Egg so that he guesses about the affair, then Milly punches her at the end, just when Warren shows up. phew, all very exciting!!

then at the end there is an advert for a four bedroomed house, with someone dialing the number, like the others said above, it was probably a lead-in to a third series with new characters.

You can get the DVDs on Amazon.co.uk or ebay, they will be able to post them to you in the Netherlands if no outlets there sells it.

Hope that helps!!!

Thanks. Hate to have missed the last episode. Thought I had recorded it, for the reruns ended 1 hour later here then in the UK, so that was a bit to much. Have to check my last tape again, and will keep checking this forum.

Just found out that the last episode was on last night. Missed it of course, cause I just saw the one before the last today. Thanks for Dutch tv-guides. Must definitely go to Amazon now.

4. Miles and Anna having an affair when Miles was married to Francesca 'the milf'

5. The new housemate being a hottie and possible romance for Jo

6. Rachel and Milly altercations at work

oh my angry young friend you need a nice glass of warm milk to calm down...i'm sure your lust to see violence, gay men catching aids and getting beaten up and using terms such as milf and hottie can be satisfied by reading nuts or zoo and the like. Failing that go down your local and i'm sure there are people there who share your right-wing bordering on national socialist view of the world but please dont try and put the world to rights through television or better still play with your wwe figures...

"oh hitman you are so much better than shawn michaels...oh yes...oh yes..."
