Was Brainiac really from Krypton?

Wasn't Brainiac just after the data from Krypton?

reply

He was created by Kryptonian scientists.

He was a super-computer that worked with Jor-El, think really advanced and really intelligent evil version of that comp Rudy from Jetsons. He was able to talk to the scientists and was supposed to cooperate with them...until he became self-aware and realized that he had more power and control than everyone on Krypton had and he saved himself when the planet was destroyed and did not warn anyone.

Best couple yet to be on Heroes...

It depends on which version of Braniac you're talking about. For this series, yes, Braniac was an AI created on Krypton that worked with the scientists, and when he figured out that the planet was doomed, he decided not to warn everyone, and save himself, and then go to other planets and collect all the information from them, and then destroy them, thereby making him the most powerful and knowledgeable being in the universe (in his mind).

In this version yes. As originally portrayed, he was a super intelligent robot from the planet Colu, who shrunk the city of Kandor down, sealing it in a bottle, prior to the destruction of Krypton. Superman eventually defeated him and brought Kandor back to the Fortress, where he would often venture to the city to be with his own people. In a later story, Kandor is returned to full size, but at the cost of the structural integrity of the buildings. Then came the Byrne revamp and the past was wiped away. Brainiac became an alien intelligence from Colu that possessed a human, or something and it got more convoluted. This version kind of picks up some of the better elements of the past (preserving knowledge) while giving it a modern twist.

Yeah Brainiac's history is certainly convoluted and confusing. Especially when you factor in the other Brainiacs that come from the future!

I think that the Animated Series version is my favorite though. Having him from Krypton makes him somehow more eerie to me. Especially since the bastard let Krypton explode without warning anybody!
