Bizzaro
I don't know about you but I didn't like Bizzaro in Superman: The Animated Series because he was basically the retarded version of Superman...Is Bizzaro actually like that in the comics?

shareYes.
shareYes.
Originally he was like Superman's exact opposite. This was taken to extreme lengths eventually resulting in a Bizzaro Earth (it was shaped like a cube) which had a bizzaro lois. There the Bizzaro's committed crimes and atrocities against each other because from their backwards point of view they considered it good. They would say good-bye when they meant hello, and hello when they meant good-bye, and they would read the end of a book first.
In the Modern comics Bizzaro is basically just a mentally deficient version of Superman. He tries to do well, and to his credit occasionally does the right thing, but usually just causes more trouble that he helps, he can be easily confused, and is often tricked into thinking that Superman has gone bad and must be stopped. This is the Bizzaro that was used in S:TAS.
In Smallville Bizzaro is and alien (not from the kryptonian race) phantom from the phantom zone, that came into contact with Clark and stole a small piece of his (clarks) DNA so that he could make himself an exact duplicate body of Clarks. But he grows weaker in sunlight (although it doesn't appear to be all that substantial, it just seems that Clark has the upperhand when in sunlight, and its when Bizzaro is exposed to the sun that his face goes white and cracks like the traditional 'Bizzaro look') and Kryptonite makes him stronger. Bizzaro also has all of Clarks memories as well as his own (from when he was a mere phantom from 'the zone'). Smallville's Bizzaro is also not stupid, but in fact very intelligent, he is however (obviously) evil.
Also he wears darker shades of Blue and Red, with a blue Jacket on top and a red shirt underneath, whereas Clark Wheres a bright red Jacket with a blue shirt underneath.
Thanks for the history lession Mikestro.
shareUm... sure, you're welcome.
shareBizarro's uniform has a backwards "S" on it but in the TV show they made it right way around. The funny thing is that at one point Bizarro looks at himself in a mirror and you can see the S reflected as if it WERE backwards... LOL
Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.
I hadn't noticed that. That IS funny.
Of course in the animated series it makes sense because Bizarro started off as a near perfect clone of Superman and the costume was created by Lex Luthor, so it wouldn't make sense for the costume's S to switch itself backwards.
(although I'm not sure the change to darker shades of blue and red was ever explained).
If you noticed, the "S" symbol may have still been facing the right way on Bizarro's suit, but it was deformed.
(although I'm not sure the change to darker shades of blue and red was ever explained).
The suit didn't change to darker shades of blue and red. It was purple and red.
I don't mean to be a smartypants but actually on that planet there were a bunch of Bizzaros and a bunch of Bizzaro Loises all living together. The original Bizarro and original Bizzarro Lois were the king and Queen of the planet. I actually liked reading that story.

This isn't the comics.

In the recent run of All-Star Superman (really good check it out!), Grant Morrison does another take on Bizarro, where they are like a virus from underspace (or something) complete with cube-shaped world. On Bizzaro worl there is an "imperfect" duplicate of the Bizarros called Zibarro who is basically a smart, human-looking Bizarro with an odd version of Supes' costume. An interesting reversal.
shareI like the version of Bizarro used in the show. He is kind of a tragic character, a mentally retarded Superman who doesn't belong in our world nor Krypton. And no one wants to be bothered with him.
I actually felt bad for him in "Little Big Head Man" because he has crying when he knocked Superman (not Clark Kent) out of a window.
I felt sorry for him too. He had no place in the world and nobody wanted him. He was like a little kid in a superpowered body. He tried to be like Superman, but he couldn't be him.
I've seen the last season of JLU and they had Bizarro in the Legion of Doom. I always wondered how they convinced him to leave his planet sancuary.

So you don't like him because he's "retarded?" Wow, way to be an insensitive bigot.
I was willing to give you whatever life you wanted...just to keep you out of mine!
Nobody's a insensitive bogot for not liking a retarded character.
shareIf you don't like someone because they're "retarded" you are a bigot.
I was willing to give you whatever life you wanted...just to keep you out of mine!
Um, he didn't even say he didn't like him.
It's all part of the plan.
He's not exactly clear who he's talking to. I said I felt sorry for Bizarro so beherchristmaspies must be refering to rayjearly, the original poster who hates this Bizarro. But whatever it's his opinion he isn't a bigot if he doesn't like this version. Maybe he likes the backwards personality (the one he had when he joined the Secret Society) better.
