Like, to make them more kid-friendly/appropriate...kind of like with the Spiderman cartoon where they removed things like some violence, shots of the world trade center, or just cut some things for time.

In the Disney XD reruns they do. While I don't remember every single edit, things most often edited were lines like the one Darkseid says at the end of Legacy part 2 to Superman:
Darkseid: "I am many things Kal-El, but here I am God."
They also did not air the episode entitled "The Late Mr. Kent", mainly because that episode dealt with capital punishment.
Disney XD edits all the blood out, all the profanity (Lobo), and just anything considered slightly controversial.
