what reigon of the country were the Greenes from and traveled in?

What reigon of the country were the Greene's from originally? What areas of the country did they travel to? I am fairly sure they weren't in the northeast it being too desnely populated.

their homebase was in Kentucky, where Ossie Davis's character lived.

They were from North Carolina. Went to Kentucky and traveled all over, but the first season had them heading to Denver to find Joe...
