Does it ever show Russell Greene actually talking with an angel?

I just started watching the pilot episode which aired on the tv show Touched By An Angel. When Russell gets on the bus to go to New York the Angel Monica is sitting next to him & they talk.

He talks to Tess on the bus on the way back home. He only has enough money to get a short way back home so Tess stands up on the bus and asks people to donate out of the kindness of their hearts instead of wasting the money on donuts. lol Her words, not mine.

At the very end Tess reveals she is an angel.
