UK DVD Ratio and US DVD Ratio

Just bought the season one boxset today.

Popped it in the DVD Player and... it's in wide-screen (16:9 Ratio.).

Correct me, if I'm wrong here, but since the series wasn't filmed this way it means the version I have crops off part of the picture, right?

Is the US DVD set also in widescreen?

According to the info on Amazon.com the ratio is 1.33:1

US DVD is 1.33:1. But the show could have been film with the 1.85:1 AR in mind. StarGate SG1 and Babylon 5 where both filmed in 1.85:1 and they came out the same time as this show.

Actually, widescreen is what allows you to see all of the frame. Full screen crops off parts of the pictures.

It can go the other way too, Prophet. If you take full-sceen and crop off the top and bottom, you'll have wide-screen yet again. I think that's the concern here.

I pity the fool!

When it was on Showtime it was shown in widescreen they still filmed it that way when it had new episodes for Scifi but scifi showed it in fullscreen for some reason but when Scifi showed the newer seasons of of SG1 they put them in widescreen but Stargate SG1's earlier Showtime Channel episodes are shown in fullscreen on Scifi even though they were shown in widescreen on Showtime.
