Anyone know?

I'm wondering about the effect used in this scene featured in Season 3, Episode 18: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDgYboxTJKw

Is the monk using an instrument to make this sound? If not, is this considered some form of chant or whistle? If you can help at all, then that's great...

Pretty sure it's a chant you hear and then some type of flute.

Haha the question I have about this episode is does anyone know what the hell it was about? haha this may be the most nonsensical episodes in the entire series. I can make more sense out of the mindboggling season 3 opener.

I guess it was to simply establish that the Group is involved in some bizarre biological experiments(which came into play again in the season 3 finale), and to further establish that they are in fact outright evil to the core. Still, some wackadoo stuff in this one.

The music was from a group called "Huun-Huur-Tu". From their Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huun-Huur-Tu:

The most distinctive characteristic of Huun Huur Tu's music is throat singing, in which the singers sing both the note (drone) and the drone's overtone(s), thus producing two or three notes simultaneously. The overtone may sound like a flute, whistle or bird, but is actually solely a product of the human voice.
