Definitely harsh and rather dark. But the whole show is harsh and rather dark, which is exactly why I love it.
I know what you mean though.

Go watch The X-Files season 7 episode "Millennium" for the true ending to the series.

"emma betrayed fank and well everyone by joining the millinium group "

She's not corruptable though. She believed the group(watts at least) was evil before joining. She'll either expose the group like Frank attempted to, or she will be assassinated. I guess it's depressing if you think the group will have her killed, but the other scenario offers a hopeful outcome.

"watts was killed trying to potect frank "

Watts, who was shown to be a full on evil, truly BAD dude in season 3, had his moment of clarity by helping Frank. He for the first time realized that Frank was right and the group likely was in the wrong. He helps Frank live and comes to the light again before dying. I'd say that's the exact opposite of depressing actually.

I thought the ending was somewhat hopeful. It ends with Frank and Jordan driving off into the horizon, with Frank saying something about how the future can be changed or people have the power to do good, it was something along those lines. I loved the finale.

But Watts wasn't truly evil. He knew what the group was capable of since he and Frank found out in the season 2 finale. He spent the entirety of season 3 secretly protecting Frank. He had to hide his intentions from the group and deep down he still believed and respected the good things he did while with the group. That's why he appeared as evil to us (and Frank) throughout the season. Because he had to hide his true intent.

So in a way it was a truly depressing ending. What makes it even more depressing is knowing that it wasn't truly over. There were still 244 days until the Millennium and one more season could have brought us to a true conclusion. Sadly that didn't happen, but at least we got the X-Files episode to sort of give us an ending.

^Hold on, you're completely ignoring the fact that some of these ideas were brought into question during the span of season 2. Was Watts ever revealed to be evil? No, but it was hinted that the group was more than it seemed and ,by the end ,that it's intentions were not entirely good. Meanwhile, Watts continues to follow the group.

But then we come to find out that he was helping Frank out (which explained why he always seemed to be consulting on crimes in the D.C area). So basically Watts wasn't "evil", he was just still a member of the group. Seems to me that you're the one who forgot what happened in S2. S2 set up the possibility.

sigh...so much stupid politics and grudges backstage ruined what could have been an amazing show

I could argue that too much mythology and departure from the formula that originally hooked viewers to the show is what ruined it. The good episodes of season 2: Mikado, Room With No View, The 2 part finale) were great. But I liked every episode of season 1 (much darker and chilling season) and only liked a few season 2 episodes.

Well, you see that just goes to show: happiness is not a given. You've got to strive to maintain your upbeatness.
