Dancing Barefoot by Patti Smith. Clare was very confused. She was having visions, memories passed down from her descendants (ie Jesus and Mary M.). I'm not sure what exactly she was trying to accomplish in the woods, maybe they were praying? Trying to reach God?
Those would be her ancestors, not her descendants, but you're on the right track. The song is also played at the beginning and throughout. The ep is a riff on the whole Holy Blood/Holy Grail thing. But typical of Millennium, it's a bit obscure. It's my favorite episode of S2 and I've seen it many, many times, but I still wonder what they were staring with the ep. I'm pretty sure that if Morgan and Wong had been allowed to continue their mythology, they were going to go further into that territory.

Oops! Of course it's ancestors, how embarrassing that I made that mistake! The episode in my mind might have worked being split into two episodes. So much was going on, it all felt so rushed with Lara having to make those long explanations. Good acting though. The kid that played the preachers son was stellar.
