Did the group really kill Peter Watts,or could it have been a suicide? Also what would most likley have been the groups plans for Frank and Jordan? All replies will be welcome!! Thank You [email protected]
Dear Studley: Can you be so sure about Peter Watts being a murder? You may recall the movie Scorpio with Burt Lancaster. You can presume but can you be so sure? Also I think the millennium group would have wanted Frank and Jordan for thier abilities. That's just me though!! Thank You [email protected]
I saw the finale when I was 12, but for the longest time I always just assumed Peter Watts killed himself. Like it just seemed like he was in his office, thinking over all that had happened, and shot himself.
I think the Group killed Peter. Remember, when he gave Frank the file, he made a comment (can't remember the exact words) that more or less stated the Group would have him killed. And then when you see his legs, there's papers and blood all over the floor. If Peter had killed himself, I think it would have been a gun in the mouth and he wouldn't have trashed his place.
Have you seen the Season 7 "Millennium" episode of The X-Files? It's included on the Season 3 and series DVD sets as an extra on the show's final disc, giving us a crossover epilogue for Frank, his daughter, and a very little bit about what befell the Group after the last episode. We don't learn anything about Peter or Hollis, the episode is also a very surreal X-Files genre story, but Frank gets a prominent part while there's an ending with him and Jordan that feels like more closure than where Season 3 left off. It's set exactly seven months after the end of Millennium and does what the show wasn't able, explores the shift into 2000 with the fate of the world in Frank's hands.
"Just tell the minister, I'm gonna be a few minutes late". *Cue John Williams' Superman theme*
I like to think that Peter probably escaped and that the body is that of the man sent to kill him. Much like the cliffhanger in Buffy where we are lead to believe that Giles is dead and then we learn otherwise. This would explain the ambiguity as we never actually see his face. They may have intended to have him reappear in the following season on the run from the Millennium group.
There was some hope that maybe the show would return for another season.. So you never know if that is Peter Watts laying behind the desk, or someone he killed and is now on the run with his family..
