I suggest you read the responses to this thread:

which might help you to decide.

It looks like we are 100 percent certain that we are not sure.

Not in X-Files league overrall. Season 3 and portions of season 2 feel like cheap, halfassed clones of X-Files.

However, at its best Millennium is just as creepy and nightmare inducing as the darkest and most well done horrific x-files episode. If you love that aspect of X-files, or serial killer/horror stuff in general, Millennium is a must watch. It's fantastic stuff.

Andrew,

No matter who you ask, you are going to get many opinions on Millennium. Not everyone on this board is going to agree with things said on the board, but that's the beauty of these boards, you can have open discussions.

As I have said many times and will continue to say, Millennium is by far the better show that has come from the 1013 camp. Of course, not all will agree with that statement, which is fine. To each his own. I ask that you go into the series with an open mind and enjoy it for what it is, one of the best shows in the past 25 years and watch the genius of Lance Henriksen.

Too many people try to compare and contrast it to the Xfiles which makes no sense to me. It's not a spinoff, it has its own feel, vibe, pace and visual appeal that is outstanding. 3 seasons, 3 different directions all kept together by Frank Black.

Bottom line, I hope you enjoy the series and let us know what you think. I would put the pilot episode of Millennium up against any episode of television that is on today.

Enjoy Millennium!

" it has its own feel, vibe"

Unfortunately not throughout some eps in season 2 and a bulk of eps in season 3

Millennium is a rather mixed bag of just what it's about, so it's hard to say just what to expect.

Season 1 is a shock-value "serial killer of the week" detective/cop story, but with the added perk of very personal family interactions and a subtle looming arc within certain episodes. Season 2 becomes much broader in scope by exploring the mythology and morally ambiguous lengths taken by the otherwise honest consulting Group Frank's been working for since the show's start, much less focused on serial killers and more fixed on government conspiracy, biblical prophecies, and the looming millennium. Season 3 becomes a kinda strange merging to the concepts in the vastly different first and second seasons, continuing the characters as they were left at the end of Season 2 and with the series' supernatural overtones intact, but with focus put back on serial killers and stand-alone stories.

Here's my review of it all: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115270/reviews-92
