This shows rise and fall was Bush bashing.

Sucking Obamas ass kept it going for a while but its basically over. With the end of Obamas administration and basically all of the Democrats that are waiting in the wings being a bunch of old, white corrupt corporatist / globalist criminals, its pretty hard for this show to maintain a facade of relevance.

It's completely shifted, the democrats now are more corrupt/ criminal than bush could have ever hoped to be.

The daily show completely lost me, though, when Obama was elected and Stewart said they old have nothing to joke about anymore. Just shows a bias, though I've always been amazed how much the media acts like obama is so "cool"

Obama getting elected was the final nail in the coffin for Stewart being relevant (and the Obama years indeed showed that Stewart no longer had anyone to "go after" since "his people" were in power, and proved once and for all that Stewart was flat out lying when he claimed to be impartial and only focusing 90% of his energy attacking Republicans because "they're the ones in power").

That being said, Bush bashing wasn't The Daily Show's downfall. It started to go downhill from the very day that Stewart stepped into the anchor's chair and swiftly ruined everything that made The Daily Show so edgy and funny to begin with.

Simply put, the show's rise to fame was Craig Kilborn. It's downfall was Jon Stewart. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I don't think you watched the show much during Stewart's tenure, and I don't blame you for that, because hate-watching is stupid. However, it makes it hard to comment on what he did. Here are just the first three results of a search if you want to know how Stewart dealt with the Obama admin. He had plenty of fodder with the rollout of AHA, "clean coal" and "all of the above" energy policies, deportations...
