stayed near where they filmed

I was In Co wicklow a few week's ago, just down the road from where they filmed this show, It was so cool seeing the pub, and the shop It was so great, the pub looked just the same, It had a few picture's up on the wall of the cast tho they have added a bit onto the bar which kind of ruined It, but other then that It was cool, I stood on the bridge and loved the view of the church, It's so lovely there they made a great choice when they picked there for filming,

Did you know that they only filmed the outside of the pub there. They used a different inside of the pub for filming. I think it was located in Dublin somewhere. That's why the inside of the one in Avoca looks different to you, they never filmed in there.

well the Inside looked just the same as the pub In the show, but I have never heard that before, to me It looked the same

The inside of Fitzgeralds was a set, as were a lot of the interiors. The exteriors were all filmes in the Avoca in Co. Wicklo and also the interiors of the Church and, I believe, the interiors of the shop. I visited Avoca in 1998, the production team did a lot of work to the village to make it look how it does in BallyK, including ecrecting some fake building hoardings on the main street to cover areas were there weren't any houses. The pub in Avoca wasn't originally called Fitzgerald's but after the production team painted up the sign the owners of the pub decided to leave it that way.

It's only when you visit Avoca that you realise how much they changed the village for filming. It's been many years since I visited the place but I intend to go back one day.
