Remember the new priest in series 4, Father Aidan (I think)? He has a sister played by Victoria Smurfit. She's kind of bold and flirty. She meets Owen Teale's character and eventually they sort of begin a relationship. He's a bit of a rogue. IIRC, he works on a sailboat, but don't quote me on that.
They had a real frustrating relationship. Just when it looked like they were going to click, she pushes him away, stalks off, or changes the rules. What about that really weird date where they were going to have a nice dinner in a nice restaurant and then suddenly it turned into four wheeling through the mud.
Orla was a real pain, playing hot and cold, lead him on, walk away. The best thing that ever happened to him was when he sailed away without her. I am getting really sick of these assertive, quarrelsome, bossy, women. Can't we have just one who is charming and feminine.
In the BallyK episodes, post Father Peter, you will notice that they wrote in weak men and strong women. Orla was overly assertive and bossy especially on that date where they ended up driving through the mud on 4 wheelers and eating seafood out of a bag because she thought it was better than going to a restaurant. Also, they wrote a story line for Paul and Oonagh Dooley which allowed Oonagh to have her name only on the papers of Fitzgerald's. Since Paul had been in prison, he was out of the loop in terms of the running of the family's affairs and did not even have a say in getting Fitzgerald's. Thus he was reduced to cook and bottle washer. There were many times when Oonagh automatically took charge because SHE was the landlord.
