Favorite character?

My favorite character was Eamon, and what a character. He was so droll and took himself so seriously. The only time he ever smiled was when he had won 250 pounds on the lottery. I saw him as a bachelor farmer who had lived alone with his animals after his siblings took off, and was not really well acquainted with the real facts of human life. Yes, he would have known how his animals reproduced, but he probably did not relate that to human behavior. When told that Siobahnn was expecting a baby, his reply after a pause was a puzzled "but she's not married!" He probably thought babies were sent by the angels after a couple had made their vows in church.

As his land was probably quite valuable and he never appeared to spend any money on himself, he would have been quite well off. The episode where he built the model sheep to fool the EU satellite was hilarious. The other character I liked only appeared in one episode, David Kelly as Plunkett. As I never cared for Assumpta and Peter, the character cameos made the show for me.

Cann't agree with you about Asumpta and Peter. They carried the first three series and after that, I didn't care much about the next series.
But if it's about the other characters in the series, Eamon was one of my favourites as well. I also liked Siobhan & Brian and Liam & Donal.

In an earlier episode (where the school has to let a teacher go due to underenrollment), Eamon participates in a protest against the decision, declaring "I have grandchildren who go there!" They are never mentioned again...so was he a bachelor farmer, or did he have a backstory that was sadly neglected?
