I felt it was a classic....
One thing I felt was interesting was this....swap the 'races' around, and the moralizing and the story could have been some kind of 'urban realism' movie from the early 60's -- maybe with Sydney Poitier as the 'wronged' poor black man, maybe Spencer Tracy as the uptight industrialist.
The idea of showing an america where the 'race roles' are reversed seemed interesting enough.
My only gripe, and I knerw they had to do this, was there were apparently no hispanics or asains in this 'america' , since none were shown on film. I would wonder how additional ethnic groups would add to the 'mix 'in this world, but I guess that would dilute the story, so c'est la vie
