Bats_Breath's Comments are racist

To say white people will find this film boring is totally racist, how can a film be boring to people of one skin colour.

Any film that might help open my mind to the way in which people are badly treated basically because of their skin colour I find any thing but boring.

If you believe the tripe Bats_Breath is saying Cry Freedom must be boring, which most of us regardless of our colour find isn't.

I am white, and I loved this movie, then again I also think I loved it because it just seemed to jump out at me and say, if things were this way would it change your life drastically, and made me think and I like movies that can do that.

Maybe it's nothing to do with "Oh white people won't watch it because it'll make them uncomfortable" etc..maybe because it wasn't the best film? Even though the subject matter is interesting.

For a start the movie is just over 10 years old. So it's hard to gauge it's success. The Internet wasn't that popular back then for a start. It's a really obscure movie and not some box office generic crap. Hell, *beep* Titanic got a huge mainstream response. Doesn't make it the best movie ever! Terminator 2 beats Titanic hands down any day. Never let how successful a film is determine weather you watch it or even like it or say you like it.

Just because lots of females thought Moulin Rouge was good doesn't mean it is. I think it's another sucky chick flick up there with Titanic and in my list of movies I'd wipe from existance if I become world leader lol ;-).

I don't think many would like this movie for a reason already mentioned. It makes you think. How many Red Necks like to do that? Racism is pretty much based on people not thinking. It doesn't matter what country you come from (well I think) if a movie makes you think. It will be less popular than an action movie with loads of special effects which requires very little thinking.

Seriously. What would you rather watch for it's Entertainment value rather than it's overall message? Star Wars or Star Trek. Star Wars obviously. Star Wars requires less thinking and has less technobabble than Star Trek and in fact many sci-fi movies in general. That's probably why it's the most successful sci-fi movie of all time.

Like I said though. Success isn't everything. Then again the Star Trek people aren't as anal about their movie as George Lucus. Star Trek is more about Character development, Drama, a message, etc. Star Trek is very philosophical at times. It makes you think. Star Wars is just an adventure with very little thinking. There's no bridge on a star ship type scenes in Star Wars. No: shields up, disable their weapons, goto warp whatever, beam us up, plot a course, holodecks, etc. There's no overall plan involved in solving problems.
It's just thinking on the spot type stuff. The only device in Star Wars that makes you think a little is the whole Force stuff.

There is a very big difference between movies which make you think and ones that don't. Movies which make you think I bet are probably less successful than movies which require little thinking if any. However. Movies which make you think will no doubt stand the test of time and in the future. Won't make the whole Human race look like a bunch of mindless dumbarses by future generations.

everyone really needs to lay off the CONSTANT "they're racist!" threads... honestly its getting a little pathetic

8 years have passed since your post, and the "racist" witch hunt has only become worse. You can't even discuss race any more... or you're fired, fired, so fired.

So much for that open and honest discussion that people said they wanted. It turns out they only want to hear an open and honest discussion that they agree with.
