Does it still stand up?
I haven't seen this movie since it first came out; how does it fare years later?
shareI SAW THIS MOVIE BY CHANCE, ON SPANISH TV, ABOUT FIVE YEARS AGO. I THOUGHT IT WAS REMARKABLE. IT REALLY GETS A MESSAGE THROUGH WITHOUT HAVING TO EXPLAIN THE STORYLINE.JOHN TRAVOLTA IS FABULOUS IN HIS ROLE.
WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS THAT I HAVE NEVER MET ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS SEEN IT. I HAVE ASKED MANY PEOPLE OVER THE YEARS, WHEN CINEMA COMES UP IN CONVERSATION, BOTH HERE IN SPAIN AND IN MY OWN COUNTRY, SCOTLAND.
WHY IS THAT?
I saw it. As your average white boy, I didn't find it to be the best made movie ever, but the storyline was definitely different. Travolta was good in the role. I would say it's a behind the scenes classic of sorts. Maybe just because it was different than a lot of the other things that come out. I do agree though, it kind of just disappeared, you never really heard about it after it came out. It didn't seem to have had a huge budget, maybe that's part of the reason it never caught on. That could also be why it didn't come off as so well made, maybe some of it had to be hurried, just a guess. Still, I would say if you haven't seen it, it's worth a look regardless of the viewer's skin tone.
shareI saw it, as your average, intellectual pjilosophical poet Guy- It was pretty good. I just saw it again last night and thought it was really good again. It did not need a huge budget because the actors turned in great performances- I agree it is worth seeing regardless of skin tone

I have been in a sense between two worlds as a white paprpalgic, I Understand power, and not having any. The disperation Travola feels, in very simmlar to the Offred charecter in Attwood's the Handmaid's tale.
It IS like a Twilight Zone episode. There was an episode with Hill Harper that was slightly similiar in some tones.
