Underrated Movie
Not the best SCI FI movie. But Crow and Washington make this movie fun to watch.

I agree. It's not nearly as dumb as "Demolition Man" and the concepts/ideas and FX are still pretty good. BTW, I think this is the only sci-fi movie Denzel has made so far.
shareYeah, and it was awesome. It is easily one of my most favorite movies of all time. it was pretty original its own right. Just look at Sid, one of the coolest characters ever created. Washington and Crowe have awesome chemistry, they need to star together again.
shareI have to agree. For all of it's faults, Virtuosity had some pretty ground-breaking ideas, especially the concept of how to make a computer-world bad guy enter the real world. I've always been a huge fan of the silicon-based cell idea.
Also, i was the first kid on my block to know who Russel Crowe was.
"Did IQs just drop sharply while I was away?"
It was too similar to The Lawnmower Man in my eyes, and seeing as I only watched 'Lawnmower' last night it is even more startling that filmmaker Brett Leonard would make two films about the same subject of Virtual Reality.
shareThey were similar, to a point. This was the opposite of TLM. This brought someone out of VR, instead of bringing soemone into VR. I just relized the coincedince, good observation.
shareI liked this 1, it is under-rated, but its still 1 of the Crowe's best roles & movies, along with Denzel's.

I don't look at movies for their "faults" (except modern movies which have no life whatsoever, even highly regarded independent ones). This movie is fun and great. I don't like Russel Crowe now, but when I first saw this I thought he rocked. I didn't even know he was English! But this is one of my favorite movies. Great plot, good era of movies (1995), just all around enjoyable. People who flank on this movies like movies I think are garbage as well, so to each his own. I wish there were more fans of this movie on the board!
BTW, Demolition Man rules! PHOEEEEEEEENIXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX! BAD AIM BLONDEY!
This movie was simply genius. It shows what Russell Crowe was (a decent actor) before Gladiator and A Beautiful Mind. Let's face it: Hollywood has ruined Russell Crowe!
