For some reason I ALWAYS transposed Russell Crowe with Ray Liotta, when thinking about this movie. Like 'you know, that Ray Liotta movie about the computer generated serial killer..'

Did I wake up in a parallel universe where Russell Crowe stars in Virtuosity...??!?

The role is a RL type role, not frikkin' RC. What gives?

I always thought it was Tim Robbins.

Liotta played an extremely similar role in another dog, "Turbulence". (The similarity was in the Laughing Killer aspect...no blue tentacles were involved.)

It came out two years after this one, so Russell takes the ribbon for Doing It First.
