Commentary trolls audience

There’s a director and writer commentary on the disc and it’s pretty informative until it gets to the end credits and they start answering the big question of what is real or not in the film…

That is not trolling.
Thanks for the link.

How is it not trolling? What would you describe it as?

reply

Making a point.

reply

What point?

reply

The big question of what is real or not in the film has many overlapping valid answers, and they will not spoil which one is the truth.

reply

Yeah that’s trolling because the audience want to hear their opinions, they know that and they choose to fuck with them instead.

reply

No, that is giving them THEIR REAL ANSWER.

Tolling would be to give an answer they know is wrong, but they know will piss them off.

reply

Looping a load of audio into an incomprehensible montage which ends in a staged argument is not ‘THEIR REAL ANSWER’, it’s a troll - it’s a confected performance that they know will piss off the audeince who want to hear their real answers.

reply

Well, I think we will have to agree to disagree here.
To me, they are just clearly exemplifying their honest answer to the question.
They don't intend to irk the viewer.
