So over the many boards of these three films I'm sure this has been discussed. And come to think of it I feel like I've read an answer to this question before but after looking today I can't find it. My question is where is Andy's dad?
There was a proposed prequel to the trilogy, tentatively called Toy Story Origins, but it was shelved, because Disney/Pixar wanted to concentrate on the Monsters Inc sequel instead. Apparently, Andy's dad, Roger, was going to feature in it.
If I remember correctly, the proposed plot was that Roger inadvertently discovered the toys were alive. To protect their secret, the toys killed him and made it look like an accident. The movie was going to centre on the toys' attempt to cover up the murder.
I heard that too! They were also proposing a sequel- Toy Story: Roger's Revenge, set somewhere between Toy Story 2 and 3 in which Roger rose from the grave and exacted his bloody (or should that be plasticy?) revenge, thus explaining all the missing toys from Toy story 3! ===================
Just because you're paranoid it doesn't mean that they're not watching.
Is this serious? Is this even real? Whoa, I never knew that It would be SUPER SCARY than, wouldnt it? I mean, like the toys Andy loved the most actually ar evils, killed his father once? Geeeeez, its so creepy i shuddered when I read this
I don't believe that for a second! I know Pixar isn't normally one for pandering and some of their films do feature dark story elements, but they'd never go down that route, surely.
"Plausible theory: Mr. and Mrs. Davis are divorced."
Divorce could be one thing but they may never have married. He could just be at work or even dead! maybe the dad was never around, could be many reasons. nothing wrong with a single parent family! ===================

So then, Mr Davis dies or they split up she then meets someone else and has a baby by him but they were never together, that baby would take her surname - Davis. Like I said, leaves the assumption that they were married but it is not ever stated as fact therefore not definate. as the above example, albeit unlikely, could also be true!

Andy's dad died when he was really young. Andy's dad gave Andy Woody, his childhood toy (from when cowboy shows were popular). This is one of the reasons Andy values Woody so much, and when the collector tries to buy him, his mom says "No, it's a family toy".
Mr. Davis dying would explain why Mrs. Davis doesn't wear a wedding ring, but not why there are no photos of him in the house. I don't know of one household with a dead parent that didn't have photos of him/her everywhere.

2.) Andy gets any toy he wants and is treated very specially (pizza planet, getting toys he actually wants and many of them. Many divorced parents usually spoil their kids.
THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR. COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS HERE!!!
My best guess is that he is either dead or not in the picture at all, but he is never mentioned at all in any of the movies. But your guess is as good as my guess if not better then my guess.
