Anyone get the impression of the actress playing Tommy's love interest -

That they cast her looking for some kind of budget Janeane Garafalo? That's who she reminds me of from the time.

reply

she sounds a lot like her.

That sorta implies that it costs a lot of money for Janeane Garofalo to sign on to anything, which I have a feeling just isn't true. If anything they probably did ask her to do it, she said no, so they cast a look alike.

reply

yea...I dont think Janeane Garafalo ever had an asking price...even when she had a relevant career during her peak back in 1994...If they wanted Garafalo they would have got her

That chick is from Doc Hollywood & she's way Better than that Garafolo girl.

I don't think they wanted Jeanine, because when she was on SNL she did not get along with Chris or David. This was also when she was just starting out becoming popular, because she made Reality Bites the year before.

Julie in 1995 was in her prime looks wise, and was a major babe. Plus she had some well known movies, she did better than Jeanine would have done in my opinion.

Julie Warner was very cute and much more attractive than Janeane Garofalo.

reply

I think Warner also has a more girl-next-door approachability than Garofalo which, when it comes to smooching on Tommy-Boy, works so much better.
