Writers couldn't be Ohians!!

This movie is, without doubt, a comedy classic that will stand the test of time. It is one of my all-time favorite movies. I do have to mention though a particular scene that cracks me up and unless you are from Ohio, probably wouldn't even think about. I was born and raised here, I call Cleveland my home. In the scene where Tommy's love interest is leaving the company, she is at an airport and asks the airport employee behind the counter for a one way ticket to Cuyahoga Falls. She is flying from Sandusky. The employee tells her there is a stop in Columbus. Sandusky and Cuyahoga Falls all in northern Ohio. Sandusky all the way at the top like Cleveland and Cuyahoga falls just above Akron. WHY WOULD YOU TAKE A FLIGHT, ESPECIALLY ONE THAT WOULD GO FROM NORTHERN OHIO TO SOUTHERN OHIO AND BACK AGAIN, FOR A TRIP THAT CAN BE DRIVEN IN JUST OVER AN HOUR? Typically, the average person drives longer than that on a combined day of shopping!! Just struck me as humorous from an Ohio geological standpoint.

Yeah... I'm not from Ohio, but that always struck me as odd, too. I get that for the plot to work, Michelle needed to be at the airport to witness Beverly and Paul kissing, but if that were the case, why couldn't the writers have just had her parents live somewhere farther away (somewhere like Florida, especially since that would be a likely locale for people of retirement age)? The Cuyahoga Falls thing doesn't make any sense at all - the only reason I can figure why they'd want to specifically include that city is because someone in production had a personal connection to it and wanted to make reference to it in the film.

I was serving a sentence as a military recruiter in Bismarck ND back in the 1980's. The enlistment center for the Armed Forces was located in Fargo ND. The Army would fly their enlisted to Fargo. Unfortunately, to fly from Bismarck to Fargo, they would have to get on the plane in Bismarck, fly to the closest hub, which was Minneapolis, then board a plane to Fargo. They passed Fargo on their way to Minneapolis. Return flight, they flew east to Minneapolis, then got on a plane back to Bismarck, passing Fargo on the way. Took just as long, if not longer, than sending them by bus. And was significantly more expensive than a bus ticket.
