why did steve buscemi have mercy and kill him without shooting him up the ass?

possibly because he excepted the fact that he was gonna die and took it gracefull and 'like a man' he was also a diseased man, maybe mr shhh had a little bit of compassion, something which is looked at when he stops the men beating the black guy

Mr Shhh shoots Pieces in the heart, not up the ass, therefore he must of had some compassion.

Well, that and his obvious leprosy may have made Shh think that inflicting and further suffering would have been pointless.
