jack warden's character and the soda jerk

what's their connection with andy garcia and the rest of the guys? i assume they all worked together in the past, but is it explicitly said or implied somewhere in the film?

I think that the old man at the soda show was "in the know" with everything, he almost was a narrator and introducer of new characters, which was kind of nice so we didn't have to see a bunch of back stories. Where as the soda jerk, I think its his place and he just is there. You can tell that both men have a lot of respect for Jimmy "The Saint".

Thanks, because that's sort of what I was thinking in regards to Jack Warden's character, but was never really 100 % sure. Also, it's actually been a while since I've seen it, unfortunatly. I think I have a copy on VHS around somewhere. Anyway, I really, really, really loved this movie and want to watch it again. By the way, I just loved that they called him, Jimmy "The Saint". This movie was AWESOME! On a quest to find it on DVD! Can probably find it on auction somewhere. ..............fp

Is the filmprincess still looking for this gemstone on DVD? Let me know, I sell on Amazon.

Jack Wardens character mentions "when we were in prison...". While he was relegated to a narrative role here, it appears that he was involved with the "gang" in the past and served time with them. The soda jerks relation, if any, is never explained.
