Jimmy beats up a guy in an office, not arrested?

He's grabbed by security - do they just let him go? It's just a dumb scene to have more violence and a cheap way of making you think he's a good guy because he protects a prostitute. He's not a good guy he's a violent criminal, and if other films manage to make you root for - or even care about - the violent criminal, this one doesn't.

Really!

What point did you stop watching? If you were still watching seconds after he Jimmy was dragged out by security as you correctly eluded to you see Jimmy in the diner. He is talking to the owner Malt (it goes something like) Malt says "so they let you go after you dogged him like that" Jimmy replies "the guy didn't wanna press charges on account he has a wife and a mistress" ..................

Your entitled to your opinion but in this case you were lacking a little of the facts. . .

danavenell, uh did you not see the scene right after the beating? He said the man didn't want to press charges because he had a wife, kids and a mistress and it would be a messy situation. Your post is dumb. Pay attention next time.

I think he'd still be in a holding cell for 48 hours or something. He'd get bail then not be charged I think if the guy didn't want to press charges. It would take a while, longer than the movie made it look. It's still cheap writing because Jimmy doesn't know the guy wouldn't press charges so he's doing something that could take him straight off the street into jail for months, yes or no? Yes, but I guess he's mad so he's allowed to be dumb? Anyway they made it look like he was out on the street in a few hours, maybe there could've been some time we didn't see. Can't be bothered to rewatch as the movie is a pile of crap.

More likely the guy just convinced security to let Jimmy go. Once they get you in a holding cell, the victim can't do anything to "drop charges" on a criminal offence- its a hollywood myth. Though he could just fail to give an incriminating statement. With all those witnesses though, i'd say its more likely he went downstairs and had them let Jimmy off. If you try to strangle someone, an the police arrest that person, you can;t just tell the police and courts not to prosecute - it doesn't work that way.

Which leaves us with Jimmy's problematic claim that 'the guy did't want to press charges' That implies the police were involved, in which case the victim couldn't say 'I don't want to press charges; the police would've arrested him anyway - so the theory that works, as above, is the police were never calked and the guy said to the security 'don't call the police, i don't want to press charges on this, just let him go it's a personal thing.'

Jimmy the saint didn't care at that point! He was just being loyal to his friend which is the main point of the movie! Besides these guys were security guards not cops. Since you want to get technical about it most likely the victim didn't want to get the cops involved hence no holding cell for 48 hrs. By the way I feel bad for you if you think this movie was a pike of crap, yet you took the time comment about it.

Seems perfectly plausible to me. And there would be no sense in showing Jimmy arrested, booked, put in a cell and ultimately released on a relatively minor plot point.
