Best 'Die Hard in a...' film?

Anyone else agree this is the best of the 'Die Hard in/on a...' movies. Most of those films took the basic idea of a man trapped somewhere with a ton of badguys to defeat, but never went anywhere with it. Toned down violence, lack of a badass hero, uninteresting villian, slow pacing, etc...

If your gonna rip off Die Hard, at least give the audience what they're expecting. Sudden Death knows this and give the audience exactly what it's advertised as, Die Hard in a Hockey Stadium...with Van Damne. Simple plot, nice pacing, well made action scenes, bloody violence, big explosions and some great thrills. Great 90s popcorn flick IMO.

Speed, Con Air, Under Siege and Sudden Death are great substitutes, but none can even compare with Die Hard IMHO.

Agreed. Die Hard is a classic that has yet to be topped. Sudden Death for me though is probably the best Die Hard clone as I think it captured the essence of the original film the most.

Speed was the best one. Followed by Cliffhanger and Air Force One.

Sudden Death is THE most underrated of the DH clones. It's just not better than the two mentioned above, or maybe even Under Siege. But it's still an awesome film and my favorite JCVD movie.

That's another thing. I've noticed that most of my favorite movies from my favorite action stars are the movies they did where they ripped off Die Hard.

It may not be the best, but it was one of the better of the sub-genre.

The Rock, followed closely by Speed.

Sudden Death is one of the more underrated in the genre. It's also my favourite Van Damme film (but admittedly I haven't seen it for over a decade).

Yeah there's Die Hard on a bus (Speed), Die Hard in Alcatraz (The Rock), Die Hard at a hockey game (Sudden Death), Die Hard on a mountain (Cliffhanger), Die Hard on a plane (Executive Decision), Die Hard on another plane (Passenger 57), Die Hard on a plane with the president (Air Force One) and Die Hard on a plane with snakes (Snakes on a Plane)
