but was this really translated fomr the JPN version as I remember them saying the same thing
Yeah they do say that, with thumbs ahoy in the air and the like. Bit gay wasn't it?

And talking about being gay... this was even worse in the SFIIV series. There was a scene, were Ryu was in a pool, Ken standing outside, getting naked, posing towards Ryu, and then jumping straight on him!
In another scene they were sparring a bit and the fight ended up with Ken sitting on Ryu's back and puuling down his gi-pants, exposing Ryu's underwear...
I guess the Japanese sense of humour is a bit... different. For example for them (at least in their animes and manga) it is no big deal to have a 100% female looking character, who turns out to be a man. They even have a special word for those ppl, but I forgot it. But in a documentary I once watched they said that this was seen as nothing unusual or weird in their society. strange folks...
They did do the whole male fringe look way before anyone in the US or UK decided to use it to show what music they liked....or that whole surf thing too. Hmmm, odd indeed. Some humour is lost on me, as it seems well, slapstick, and a bit obvious. But it's more quirky, and amusing than funny. Wouldn't change it for the world.
