The whole expert team felt so pointless.

I don't get why they had to get civilians involved in the first place but at least they could have introduced them first and shown us why they are the best at their job. Instead it felt like they got some random people off the street to deal with this huge top secret threat. The anthropologist with his discovery channel level knowledge was redundant, the empath was just laughable and the mercenary didn't display any special skills. The biologist also didn't do anything special that would show why she was chosen for the job. I get that they wanted some normal relatable people but it just made it impossible for me to take the movie seriously and get invested in it.

I know there are too many remakes right now but this is the one movie that I think could use a remake with a director experienced in making good action/thriller movies who takes it more seriously.
