By god its soo good :) i love post epocaliptic movies ....pure genius ... well at least Resident evil 3 is coming out soon so this yera will be coverd for me ! but next year would be nice to see this movie remade or something ...it has so much potential in it !
Oh no! I don't think it sould be remade. Though this movie does have a few defaults, I love it as a whole work. Would you remake Gone with the wind with modern effects? That would be too dangerous because GWTW is a classic and, though I'm not comparing thei quality, Screamers is a kind of Sci-Fi classic. It would be like remaking Alien (which I didn't like): you can't remake a classic.
I agree with the GWTW point. Furthermore, remaking a scifi movie is especially stupid (a la the omen), and because of this I think a Screamers remake will likely fail, just as "The Thing" will likely fail.
I don't think a re-make would necessarily fail like so many other cheesy thriller type sci-fi movie remakes do, simply on the grounds that Screamers is a weak screen adaptation of the original story, and it could be done a lot better because the original story is amazing. The actual short story behind Screamers is a master piece of Philip K Dick, and if it were done with a carefully reciprocal consideration paid to his vision, the remake most certainly could be very well done. Screamers came up short in meeting the sophistication and brilliance of Dick's original story, so why not remake it? I'm not saying Screamers was a horrible movie by any means either, but it was a sort of low budget, low initiative film, and a better movie could be made with more resources and a smart production team. For god sakes, Hollywood is pouring millions into all sorts of total mindless garbage these days, if they just invested in a story worth telling and movie teams worth their salt, you could have an amazing sci-fi film on the level of Alien(s), or War of the Worlds in this story.
