This looks very cool (and just FYI to anyone who cares: it's under some discussion on the board for the sequel itself).
I'm particularly happy to see Lance Henriksen. Ever since his name disappeared from the IMDb credits, I hadn't been sure he was still in it.

There's a sequel? LOL, wow talk about toally random.
shareYep. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1214983/.

I'm glad to see them attempt a sequel, though I doubt it could ever match up to the first one. It is a calssic sci-fi movie in my book. Even though the special effects were meh, the movie was just a diamond in the rough.
And too bad Peter Weller didn't return either. But Lance Henrisken is a great actor!
I love the first one and I don't expect the sequel to be of the same quality (even if the special effects are better). But the presence of Lance Henriksen gives me hope, and I'm expecting it to be a decent movie whether or not it's as good as the first one. I'm looking forward to it.

So since Weller isn't in it are we to assume that the Teddy Bear got him?
shareI guess so, unless the sequel refers somehow to his having reached Earth after all. I actually hope it doesn't tell us one way or the other -- I like it that we think the teddy bear got him but we're not sure.

I can agree with that in part. Sometimes less is more. Mystery is better than any explanation we could want.
However, if they totally ignored it? I dunno.

Yeah, I see what you mean. But they don't have to ignore it completely; I'm fine with a passing reference to Hendricksson's ship or even just that one ship that came back. I just don't want them to tell us whether Hendricksson himself made it back alive or not.
It's not a big deal to me if they do -- I'd just prefer that they don't.

You mean Weller not Hendricksson? Hendricksson is in the new one, wait I'm confussed he is Henriksen. heh.
From the trailer it looks sort of cheesily made, thats not always a bad thing tho if the rest of it holds up like the first one did, its usually a good sign it'll probably suck tho. Wish Rubin would of been back it, doesn't matter what the special effects would look like then.

I mean Joseph Hendricksson, Weller's character. As you say, Lance Henriksen is the actor in the sequel.

How about they find Hendricksson's ship, but with no body?
shareHmm, that might work. Well, let's see what they do.

I wonder if maybe thats why they took his name off the IMDB credits? Maybe he replaced Henricksson or Hendricsson or which ever way its spelled as Wellers character and it was just too confusing so they left it out or took it off.
shareHeh, that would be pretty funny. Could be -- although, if so, depending how they handle it, it may take some tap dancing and hand waving to explain why nobody knew the Screamers on Sirius 6B hadn't been wiped out.
At the very least, it's possible that Henriksen's name is omitted from the credits in order to avoid some sort of spoiler.

The obvious stating point for the sequel would be that Weller's ship and the Teddy Bear make it back to earth so the Sreamers could start spreading there
shareWell, I agree that that would be an obvious starting point, but the advance information about the sequel (both from IMDb and from the trailer) seems to indicate that that isn't what happened. The idea seems to be that Earth receives an SOS from someone on Sirius 6B, and it becomes clear that the Screamers were not "decommissioned" as the people on Earth had thought. So off we go to Sirius 6B . . .
Which I think works better; I can't say I'm terribly interested in seeing a sequel set on Earth. It might be a good movie, but it won't have some of my favorite things about the first one, which include the desolate landscape and creepy atmosphere of Sirius 6B.

Looks... Pretty cool actually, I will watch this!
