Sequel going straight to DVD and available for pre-order

According to http://www.dreadcentral.com/story/against-dark-screamers-2-art, Screamers: The Hunting is going straight to DVD.

The information seems to be reliable; the DVD is available for pre-order on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Screamers-Hunting-Holden/dp/B001MVYUSE.

Here's another look at the DVD artwork: http://iconsoffright.com/news/2008/12/screamers_2_dvd_artwork.html. You can also watch the trailer on that page.

Hmm, doesn't seem like it will be as good as the first one. Then again, most sequels are but shadows of their predecessors. Still, I'll give this one a rent at my local Blockbuster. :)

Oh, I'm sure it won't be. The presence of Lance Henriksen gives me hope, but he's been in some less than stellar movies in recent years. Still, he's bound to make it better than it would have been without him, and it looks pretty good from the trailer.

Okay, just saw the trailer at my house. It looks appropriately scary in an Aliens II sort of way, which I like very, very much. However, just by that quick look, I can already tell some of the acting is just...IDK...somewhat robotic. The thing I most loved about the original Screamers was that you felt like you were right there with the characters, a part of that incredible scenery because the acting was so natural and free-flowing. I never once felt myself concentrating on the lack or the excess of presence from any of the characters. I really hope this next one can deliver in that department like the original did. Bad acting really throws off the whole show for me.

I know what you mean, and I agree with you about the acting in the first film (especially Peter Weller, who just flat-out owns the movie). It will be hard to live up to the original and I'm not going into the sequel with the expectation that it will. But I'll be buying it as soon as it comes out and hoping for the best.

Screamers 2 was a disappointment. It was like a grade B movie of Alien but they tried to replace the aliens with terminators and a couple with zombies.

I loved the 1st one but the 2nd didn't have any of the "hidden enemy" feel. You pretty much knew who was a screamer soon as you saw them. I think a lot had to do with camera work. The way they lingered on a person, or how someone looked at another.
