Does any one else think this could be a treminator prequal

if screamers was based on earth, couldn't this easily be a prequal for The Terminator?, there would only need to be minor script changes and a bigger budget. just wondering what anyone else thinks of this

The story that this movie is based upon, Philip K. Dick's "The Second Variety," was set on Earth. Here's some more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Second_Variety

Also, Terminator storyline is roughly 1992-2020, and in the story it is 2067, I believe.

i think terminator was 2035 while this is 2078

Regardless of the time frame, I can see what you mean by prequel, meaning skynet rebuilds itself, updating clunky machinery to human form. Human form being one version of similar faces, starting with a child to more complex adult. Interesting idea.

But then the proposed skynet of today would have to be incredibly sophisticated to make that kind of big technological advances.

I see the similarities, but there are no type 1 screamers in Terminator. IMO, those are actually the most powerful type. Type 3 sucked.

reply

Agreed. The type 1's were the coolest ones in the film.

Altough, the type 2's were pretty cool.

when kyle reese is having the flashback to when his photo of sarah conner is destroyed the terminator that infultrates the rebel base is meant to be a homage to second variety... ( the wounded solder)

I like the idea you have come up with also remeber what Reese said about the Terminators first appearing with Plastic skin so I think this being a prequel is not a bad idea maybe we could suggest this to the people making Terminator 4

reply

T4 better have Arnold or hollywood will be burned.

No, I agree with someone above, the story is based on a story called "Second Variety" by Phip H. Dick who also wrote the stories, "Paycheck", "Minority Report" "We can Remember it For You Wholesale" (the story Total Recall was loosely based on. These stories can be found in "The Philip Dick Reader" along with quite a few others that should have made it to the movies. It's a lot of fun to see how dated these stories are compared to the movies.

As for Arnold being in T4, what a weapon, "Grandpa Terminator"

I saw more similarities between Terminator and the sequel to Second Variety entitled Jon's World.

Hollywood has yet to be burned...

Regardless of the time frame this is a very interesting point of view.
