Yes but I doubt that without any sort of advertising or promo of the show that they will still keep the date they promised. Nobody has any idea what is going on.

Sorry, but there will be no new Sailor Moon anime now or ever, it's very sad, but it's true. Maybe Kondansha did not intend to lie, but there are just too many politics involved with this. The anime market is not like animation in the US, they need perfect products that everyone can agree on. Naoko & Toei are probably unwilling to comprimise on money and artistic POV. I love Sailor Moon, but it died in 95-96 when Toei stopped making anime, and Naoko stoped new stories, which in my opinion was really dumb, but it had a really long run compared to most anime television programs.

Well regardless of whether you think the new anime will ever come to fruition this thread is about being angry that they have lied to us twice now with no explanation all the while pushing their new Sailor Moon merchandise like heroin.

I would really like to read an exact, verbatim transcript of what Naoko Takeuchi and Fumio Osano said in 2013 reagrding this issue. The more time goes by, the more I get the impression that someone misquoted them or gave a wrong translation.

Maybe they were talking about the new Sailor Moon musical that was on stage a couple of months ago. Or the new dolls or whatever. But since there are no news about a new anime, I guess someone with basic Japanese should twitter Osano and ask him for a definitive anwser.

Blondie bear, you answered your own question. There's not that much outrage because I believe a lot of people saw through everything that was going on.
For me, it was more sadness then everything, after everything came and went during the summer I knew nothing was going to happen.

I don't know, I translated what I could on the website, and they sort of hinted that the reason that it's been scrapped was because of jealousy, and so Naoko could own the rights to the anime while having Toei produce and not just have Toei claming ownership over everything. The Japanese are perfectionists, and who knows, maybe by the time Naoko is in diapers we'll see new anime! The thing that gets me is that it's only on official Sailor Moon 20th website, not on any other indipendently verfified websites. It's very vague. What really pisses me off too is that they have an e-store on that website, which leads me to believe their motives are not all that pure.

Okay, NOW I'm angry. Until we get some hint of ANYTHING actually happening (even a storyboard or two), I now have to think this is never going to happen. For the second time now they've kicked the can down the road six months. If you're going to do that, you owe it to all those fans who you've kept dangling all year to show them SOME proof that this project is actually moving forward.

You really can't be angry, because we agree to buy into their BS, they can't make us do anything we don't want to.....not an insult, but you just have to ignore it. I can just imagine how stupid the Japanese thing the western world is now.

So, they make an announcement that, at the very least, hints at a new anime being in production (a beloved anime worldwide, at that) and you think people 'buying into the BS' is something that would be considered dumb to get excited over?

Regardless, I was a little meh about the new anime being a reboot rather than a continuation, but the fact that they're being really tightlipped about this is a very bad sign.
