What was the actual source of evil in SuperS?

I feel like this was something that was never truly explained.

In the final episode, Nehelenia spoke about how a mirror showed her as an old person, and she subsequently became possessed by a Zirconia-looking figure that was reflected in the mirror.

So, what really did happen then? Was she brainwashed by something in the mirror? Was the mirror (and Zirconia) a manifestation of the evils inside her? And was the vision of her "future" the truth, or just an illusion? Was the Zirconia in the mirror the same figure that eventually became her servant?

The Events of SuperS aren't completely explained until you watch StarS, the final season of Sailor Moon. There you will learn that it's an entity called Chaos that has brought out the evil in Nehelenia.

Of course I reserve the right to be wrong But I know that every evil starts with Chaos in the Sailor Moon universe.
