Long time pondering about those Shadow Warriors

It's been years upon years since Sailor Moon was a regular part of my life but a thought brought me back here and damn it their origin part still bugs me.

So right we see that they had these seven shadow warriors that got put into the rainbow crystals, but exactly what is the correct story rationale for how the episodes unfolded?

- The crystals were reborn as normal people/cat and taking them out turned them into generic monsters

- The crystals were reborn into a new being that had both a people/cat side and a monster side. The crystal just kept the human/cat part in control

- Or was the whole shadow thing a disguise and the seven of them always really just looked like that and when the crystal came out they regained their true form.

Everyone was effected by Queen Serenity's Moon Healing Escalation/Cosmic Moon Power. She basically wiped everyone's existence clean and set them to star again on Earth in the hopes that all would remain good. We never see Queen Beryl or the Four Generals' acting in their reincarnated forms but they too were reborn. We can assume they turned to evil as Queen Metalia (or the Negaforce, as it's called in the dub) managed to find them and corrupt them once more.

As for the 7 Shadow Warriors, they too were reincarnated into good forms (the human/animal forms we see), each containing a piece of the Silver Crystal to maintain those forms. Once the Rainbow Crystals were removed and they were infected by the Negaforces power, they reverted to their true forms, horrible Negaverse monsters. Only Princess Serenity's power to "heal" allowed them to take on the forms allotted by the Silver Crystal.

As her powers rely on the purity of love, Princess Serenity is able to change beings into what they truly wish to be, rather than what they actually are. She purifies them of what keeps them from loving. Thus, Sailor Moon doesn't "heal" but rather allows a being to take on a form that allow them to love and therefore be good. We see the greatest evidence of this with Hercules and the Four Negamoon sisters.

Even with his Rainbow Crystal removed, Hercules still felt love for Luna and therefore had the most control over his true form. Even if Sailor Moon didn't heal him, he was capable of love and not truly evil, just unable to comprehend love correctly. Sailor Moon then used her power to revert him to his cat form because it allowed him to easily love others and others easily love him.

The Four Negamoon sisters all kept their original forms as they did love eachother in their given forms but their minds were warped by dark power. If, for any reason, they couldn't love in those forms, she would have changed them to some form that could.

More interestingly, think about the situation of Raye's grandpa. He is truly a Shadow Warrior but was allowed to be human because of the Rainbow Crystal he was reborn with. Like with Amy's boyfriend and other reincarnated Shadow Warriors, he exhibited psychic powers in human form as he wasn't what he appeared. This leads me to believe that his granddaughter Raye inherited her psychic powers from her Shadow Warrior lineage while her Mars powers came from her destiny as a Sailor Soldier.
