I don't see how anyone could prefer the old dub but that's just me.
For me, personally, it's the one that I grew up with, is more familiar, is the most recognizable one, and holds very fond memories to me. Plus, the DIC theme song is what made the show even more iconic. The voice actors never really bothered me except the one who did the voice for Diana the cat. I love the voice actors for the Inner Senshi because they sounded more down to earth. I think Terri Hawkes was the best voice over for Sailor Moon. I do agree with this person who said this to me:
I tried giving Sailor Moon Crystal a try and I lasted through the first arc, but it's so watered down, the art isn't great, and I was really fed up that the other sailor scouts can't have their own lives and everything has to revolve around Serena. They were much more interesting in the original anime adaptation and I'm usually someone that gets more attached to the supporting characters (ie: I preferred Sasuke to Naruto; Vegeta to Goku, etc.)
I think the characters from the original dub were developed much better than the new dub.
I will say I do prefer the character names from the old dub, especially Serena which sounds much prettier than Usagi, lol.
I agree with this. I remember when I was younger, I wanted my name to be "Serena". The characters names from the old dub resonates much better and is much more easier to remember and pronounce.
