I'm watching "Crystal" and I'm noticing that a huge amount of the plotlines from the original anime are not contained in the new series such as "Talk Radio," "Slim City," etc., etc. Does that mean that the original anime had entirely new stories written solely for the anime?

shareWell hey, there's certainly nothing stopping you from watching the original show. The idea behind the remake was to cut out most of the filler, wouldn't be much of a point if it was exactly like the show we already have.

A perfect example would be the Doom Tree story line was created for the anime, just as the first 20 or so episodes of Sailor Moon S were not in the manga.

The Anime very quickly overtook the Manga when it was airing, they had to stretch things out long enough for the author to finish that part of the story.
