Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin

I know most people are probably be more interested in seeing "Chucky vs Leprechaun", but id more so like to see the Leprechaun go up against Rumpelstiltskin. First off, i think they are a better match for each other. And secondly, i think they would fit together better in a movie than Leprechaun and Chucky, being that Leprechaun and Rumpelstiltskin are both similar mythological creatures, and Chucky is a possesed doll.

Mark Jones created the horror movie versions of both the Leprechaun and Rumpelstiltskin, wrote and directed both the first Leprechaun and Rumpelstiltskin. So i think he'd could write and direct a battle between the two. Mark ain't exactly the best writer or director, but he created them both, so why not let him bring them together.

A "Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin" could turn out to be as cool and interesting. It'll probably never happen, "Chucky vs Leprechaun" is much more likely, but would anyone else like to see the Leprechaun take on Rumpelstiltskin?

I'd like to see it. What setting do you think it should take place in? Modern city, modern country, medieval times, future... (though I don't think future would be a good setting, really.)

reply

I don't think the future would be a good setting either for "Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin". Or medieval times either, at least not for the whole movie. Maybe have it start out in medieval times in the begining of the movie to set up the plot for the rest of the movie. I think most or all of it should take place in modern times of whenever it's made, in a small town somewhere in the U.S. or Europe. I guess if it took place in a small town in the U.S., whether it be a real or made up town, anywhere could work. If it took place in a small town in Europe, then it should happen somewhere in Ireland or Germany, maybe both if possible. I say Ireland because that's obviously where the Leprechaun is from. I haven't seen Rumpelstiltskin in awhile, so i don't remember if it says where he came from, but the fairytale comes from Germany i believe, so that's why i said that.

Yes, maybe in this they could take it up a notch- it would be great to see a plot element that made the two of them have to get to another country quickly, and have them steal a plane, or planes of some sort... maybe even helicopters. Forget that they wouldn't know how to pilot them, lol. Yes, the Rumpelstiltskin tale is German, and his movie counterpart is too. I was fond of incorporating an idea into Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin that involved pirates, maybe just to set up the rest of the movie. I don't know that Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin will ever happen, but if Warwick Davis were to buy the rights to Leprechaun, like he indicated in the past he would like to do, he might make it happen.

reply

Well i don't know about the Leprechaun or Rumpelstiltskin using planes and/or helicopters, or pirates being involved. But hey, i guess they are ideas to be thrown out there.

I didn't realize Warwick wanted to get the rights to the Leprechaun franchise, but it makes sense. When you say "he might make it happen", do you mean that Warwick has seen Rumpelstiltskin, and actually likes the idea of a versus movie with the Leprechaun and Rumpelstiltskin and has expressed interest in making one? Or are you just saying in general that if he got the rights to the Leprechaun franchise, it might happen?

reply

In general, it might happen- Warwick is very receptive to his fans and ideas like this. It wouldn't hurt to ask him this question at his home page, which I am about to do.

reply

That's a really good idea! When/if he replies and if you don't mind, post what he says here in this topic.

So, what other kind of ideas do you have for a "Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin"?

As a basic plotline, the movie should start out with Rumpelstiltskin being invoked by a human character, who has the golden Leprechaun statue, and his gold. This character, though a mother, had her baby die just after birth, so Rumpel takes her life, gold, and the gold necklace that holds Leprechaun in place as payment, making some witty comment about how the necklace will look good on him. He leaves in search of a new baby to enact his ritual to free him of his curse, but the Lep stirs, ticked off and ready to get his gold back. What do you think? Good beginning idea? P.S. The reason why this woman has all these things is because her husband, who died in a cave in, was an archaeologist.

reply

Yeah, that seems like a pretty good beginning idea. I think it or something similar to it could probably work out well.

Chip in with an idea of your own, man, maybe we'll inspire the producers. :)

reply

Honestly at this point, i really haven't thought much pass the idea of just having the Leprechaun and Rumpelstiltskin in a movie together, and at some point during it, having them battle one another...

So badwolfe, did you ask Warwick Davis about a "Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin" movie on his homepage yet??

"You cannot be serious!" -John McEnroe

reply

Yes, I have, but there has not been a response yet. I'll post it here if I get a response, but it can take a while for these people to answer...

reply

I'm sure it will take awhile for an answer from him. Warwick is probably a very busy person, and who knows how many questions he gets from fans. I really hope he does like the idea of a "Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin" movie! If he does like it, then of course that's all the more chance we'll probably have of it actually happening!

"You cannot be serious!" -John McEnroe

reply

Hey dan, I haven't got a response from Warwick... I don't know if I will now. Any thoughts on Leprechaun vs Chucky? Since it is more likely...

reply

If "Leprechaun vs Chucky" did happen, i suppose i'd check it out since im a fan of the Leprechaun series. And for what it is, it'd probably turn out to be pretty decent. Truth be told though, im really not much of a Child's Play fan and never really have been. I just don't care for Chucky really. But yeah, "Leprechaun vs Chucky" is much more likely and im sure would attract more people, but ill take "Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin" over it any day.

What are you thoughts on a "Leprechaun vs Chucky"?

"You cannot be serious!" -John McEnroe

reply

I'm not a fan of chucky, he doesn't hold much appeal for me, really. Now that I think of it, I don't think I'd be very excited about it, though I would go see it. Hmm, it could be fun though, films with the Leprechaun always are. Warwick has shown interest in doing Lep vs Chuck, unlike Rumpelstiltskin... I hope they make Leprechaun vs. Rumpelstiltskin, but what the hey. As long as people are interested in it, it will probably get made some day... just not as soon as I'd like it. Puppetmaster would probably be a better foe for Chucky, btw.

reply

I think the puppets from the Puppet Master series were better off going up against the demonic toys. Dolly from Dolly Dearest would be a much better match for Chucky than the puppets. Actually, Dolly would probably be the best match for Chucky. I just think for the Leprechaun, Rumpelstiltskin would make a better match than Chucky would, and they go together better. Or "Leprechaun vs Torok" could work good as well. But Rumpelstiltskin is my first choice to go up against the Leprechaun.

"You cannot be serious!" -John McEnroe

reply

Yes... if you don't mind, could you ask warwick about 'Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin' also? The more people who ask, the more likely he is to get an interest in it... and respond.

reply

Yeah i can do that, no problem. It does makes sense.

So i know you defintely wanna see a "Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin", though you aren't too interested in a "Chucky vs Leprechaun". But would you see a "Leprechaun vs Torok" movie if that happen to be made?

"You cannot be serious!" -John McEnroe

reply

Torok? I don't really see how that would work... He's not really a fighter, I don't see him facing off against the Leprechaun. But if they could somehow make it work, I'd be interested in seeing it.

reply

I got a reply to my "Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin" question i asked Warwick through his website. Now that was fast! Well here's the exact message:

"Hi Dan

Warwick was so pleased to hear from you but says to tell you that at the moment there are no plans for any new Leprechaun Movies. Yes you are right and many fans have said they would like to see Leprechaun V Chucky and you are not the first to say Leprechaun V Rumpelstiltskin. Warwick says as soon as there is news of a new Leprechaun film he will post details on the website..mean time Warwick sends you his best wishes

Regards
Caz

Hmm heres something I hadn't thought of- Would Max Grodenchik be willing to don the hump again (so to speak, lol)? If not, do you think anybody else could play Rumpelstiltskin?

No problem dude. Yeah, i did send a fan mail. I figured that's what you did too, but obviously not, lol.

I'm sure somebody else could play Rumpelstiltskin, but i think nobody besides Max should play him! If Max wouldn't be up for reprising the role, then a "Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin" or "Rumpelstiltskin 2" shouldn't be made! But that's just my personal opinion on the matter.

"You cannot be serious!" -John McEnroe

reply

Cool, looking at Max's page I don't think he would turn it down anyways... he's done very little and would probably be anxious to get back on the radar. I have never seen any Star Trek, so I don't know if he was good in it or made much profit off of it... Max is the only Rumpel. It's all the more fitting that he is German.

reply

I don't really know what Max is doing for a living these days, but from what i've read he attends a lot of the Star Trek conventions. I would hope though that if a "Leprechaun vs Rumpelstiltskin" movie was gonna be made, that he would wanna reprise his role.

reply

both movies had the same actor in them Mark Holton so were almost there

reply

Well they were totally different roles and the former was much bigger than the latter, but i guess you do got a point there, mungvacume.

You guys shouldn't forget the character Troll from the film with the same name. :)

I like that idea.

Volker Flenske: (While torturing David) I don't know why you're doing this to yourself!

There is actually It! (the clown by Stephen King) and Rumpelstiltskin in a epic story.

Id be happy just to see an animated (anime style) L vs. R, With Warwick and Max doing the voices of the characters. It could pick up where Rumpelstiltskin left off.

Leperchaun vs Rumplestiltskin vs Troll.
