A 'goof' that wasn't

Just FYI, I've had a goof removed from this movie's goofs page. Someone thought that even though Robert MacGregor's middle name is Roy, he signs his name "Robert M. MacGregor" for Killearn. He does no such thing; he signs "Robert Mac Gregor" with no middle initial. Whoever submitted this goof just misread the "Mac" as an "M" and didn't notice that the "last" name was just "Gregor."

Roy wasn't his middle name anyway. His proper name was Robert MacGregor. He was nicknamed Rob Roy because of his red hair, "Roy" meaning "red".

Actually his name was Raibeart Ruadh MacGriogair. Rob Roy is an anglicization.

Interestingly the roots of those names are Germanic, not Celtic. Raibert is just the Scottish form of the German name Robert. That name comes from Germanic Anglo Saxons who first brought it to Britain, and Normans who made it more popular. Griogor is also not Celtic. It is Greek and brought by Romans.

Interestingly you have no idea what you're talking about. Gaelic was brought to Scotland by Irish settlers.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time Del Boy, it's them that started me drinking!
