Why wasn't Robert Roy MacGregor played by a black actor?

reply

B/c Rob Roy wasn't black. what do you expect in a movie like "rob Roy", black w/ dreadlocks, pulling out guns and shooting each other to death? If you want black people, watch a Spike Lee film, or anything that Chris Tucker or Eddie Murphy is in. And by the way, there is a black person in the movie, a servant boy who is repeatedly shown with John Hurt's character.

I lol'd

It's actually quite typical to see at least one of these topics in the most least expected boards on imdb.

I just couldn't resist.

Better question would be 'Why didn't they use a red haired actor to portray Rob Roy?' yah know since Rob actually was a redhead and all...

Look on my works. Ye Mighty, and despair!'

Because it would have been fricking retarded. And people saying crap like this is a form of racism in and of itself.

Another dumb post by you.

I guess the dense ones here cannot recognize sarcasm when they read it. Sigh.

Well, I see you're so unoriginal, not only are your arguments cliche, you're also a copycat. So, now that I have a fan, welcome to my world... : )

It wouldn't have bothered me if Rob Roy had been played by a Black actor. But it really ticks me off that a White actor (Tim Roth) is used to play the bad guy - now that is typical Hollywood racism.

And not only that, but he's English! How many more of these stereotypical "British bad guy" characters does Hollywood expect us to put up with?
