so she rode off into the sunset with a gunshot wound??

seriously?? i know they wanted a dramatic exit but...........

reply

her "wound" and death were a sham propagated by Doc, the blind kid, and crowe.

You don't have to stand tall, but you have to stand up!

reply

No, love, she was shot by Herrod before he died. rewatch the scene.

reply

I never was sure where she got shot at. At first I thought maybe it was her arm but I am starting to reconsider that option.

reply

Ellen and Cort faked her death with help from Wallace and the blind salesman.🐭

reply

They aren't talking about the part where she fakes her death. They are referring to the part in the end after she blows up everything and comes back. She and Cort shoot's at the same time and she screams (apparently being shot) and he chuckles only to realize he has been shot himself. That's the scene they are referring to.

reply

I think you meant "She and Herod," not "She and Cort," don't you?

You're gonna need a bigger boat.

reply

Shane! Come back, Shane!

Classic western ending.

reply

She did get shot by Hackman in the left bicep area in the last scene.

It is unlikely that she would have ridden away with such a painful wound, especially since she was friends with the Doctor.

reply

It was just a flesh wound (the standard Hollywood answer for cliché-ridden Westerns).
