Basically. He was angry at God that He gave humans (or talking monkeys, as Gabriel considers them) souls while He did not give souls to the angels.
He also perceives God as loving humans more, that humans usurped the angels attention and first priority place from God.

You do realize what a soul is?
It's what makes us humans trascend death and exist afterwards, while animals/plants once they die they cease to exist 100%.
Giving us a soul thus allows us to reach God, alongside the angels, who for being spiritual beings, do not need souls to begin with nor do they need them.
What makes you think that animals dont have souls? Who are you to determine such a profound thing? There are most animals that have purer characters than some humans and those animals cant go to heaven but a bad person who just adks for forgiveness can enter??
